Cancer Defined,
Risk Factors for Cancer

Cancer is a genetic disease, caused by changes in genes that control the way our cells function. These cells can then divide and spread into tumors or cancer cells that can cause illness down the road and develop into families worst nightmares by the words "you have cancer". If this seems uncontrollable, you are half right. Up to 50% of cancers are preventable by proper lifestyle and diet! Healthy diets rich in phytochemical's (plant chemicals) and proper lifestyle can reduce your risk for cancer by 50%!

Now, what if you have cancer, is nutrition still important? Yes! Proper nutrition during cancer treatment can improve treatment effects, reduce toxicity, prevent and manage malnutrition, and improve quality of life. Not to mention, nutrition management by a registered dietitian helps with treatment related side effects such as poor appetite, nausea and vomiting, taste and smell changes, mouth sores/trouble swallowing, diarrhea and constipation, and more.

Cancer survivors have battled against all odds and overcame obstacles they may never thought they could have. Going through multiple rounds of treatments and possible surgeries have likely changed your body composition. It is not uncommon to have lost muscle mass and gained body fat at the end of cancer treatments. Not to mention being at a higher risk for cardiovascular diseases or other health conditions. Proper nutrition after beating cancer is important to returning to your healthiest self and reducing the risk of a second cancer developing, as unfortunately cancer survivors are at a higher risk of developing cancer again.

If this sounds like you in any way, Kenz's Cancer Fighting Nutrition LLC may be for you!!
